What is your daily practice routine and how has it evolved over time?
Hey there tonebassists! This week, coinciding with our next livestream on “How to Practice Effectively” (September 26), we want to hear about your practice routine, and how it has evolved over time?
Do you start with a scale, or some technical routine? Or jump straight into the music? Do you use a metronome and drone; or perhaps play into a tuner? How often do you record yourself and listen back?
There’s no wrong answer except no answer! Share your experience of how you practice and perhaps you’ll be giving someone a valuable idea, or taking some your self!

I've been doing a deep dive on Joel Quarrington's books, and after watching some vids here of Joel and Travis, I've settled on this as my warmup routine:
Tune (!)Find the Weight (~4')
String Crossings (~4')
Hanging (~4')
Long Shifts with The Move or The Move (Advanced) (3-4')
Limbering Exercises (2-3')
Scale Progressions or Knuckle Busters or 3-octave Galamian scales (5-7')
I then do some sight-reading of an etude for 7-10' (I've been working on Billè's 18 Studies), and then I get into some rep for whatever concert is coming up (I play in a military band) for about 10-15'. To finish off the session, I work on pizz by playing through some standards, usually for about 10', using iReal Pro.
